Responses to criticism of the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) for allowing people with conflicts of interest to serve on its advisory panels often include protests about how difficult it is to find qualified experts who do not have conflicts. (This is often further justified by assertions that pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and device companies only get the "best and the brightest" as consultants.) But on GoozNews, Merrill Goozner posted to the contrary. It really is not that hard to find unconflicted experts, if one bothers to look.
