BLOGSCAN - Why Not Make Pharma Payments to Physicians Public?

On the Hooked: Ethics, Medicine, and Pharma blog, Howard Brody wonders why if pharma argues that payments to physicians are "all about education," then why they would object to making all such payments public?

The pharma industry objects to disclosure, as desribed to the public, because of the complexity of such a task (which is speculative, since it has never been attempted), as well as considering the notion vague and unnecessary. Regardless, if it were to happen, it would be nothing but deceptive creative accounting from such companies.
