BLOGSCAN - A Drug Manufacturer Asks a University President to Lobby on its Behalf
On the Scientific Misconduct Blog, Dr Aubrey Blumsohn reprises a key event in the "Nancy Olivieri Case." Recall that Dr Olivieri is a physician at the University of Toronto who nearly forced out of her job after she tried to blow the whistle about unexpected side effects she found during a drug trial sponsored by Apotex. Meanwhile, Apotex, which had promised to make a large donation to the University, asked the University President to lobby the Canadian Prime Minister to quash a legislation which Apotex thought to be unfavorable to its interests. By the way, for a full accounting of the case, see the report by the Canadian Association of University Teachers here.
