BLOGSCAN - Enlarging Bipolar Disorder
Two important posts, here and here, on the Clinical Psychology and Psychiatry blog discuss another attempt to enlarge the scope of a disease, and how this may prompt use of drugs for which the evidence is lacking, and hence which may do more harm than good. The enlarged disease is called "sub-threshold bipolar disorder" and the drugs suggested to "treat" it include mood stabilizers, anti-psychotics, and lithium.
